Skeptic here. The first night convinced me
Florida backyard, so I've tried everything. Staked it by the patio, flipped it to auto and forgot about it. Came out the next morning expecting nothing — the tray told a different story. We've eaten dinner outside every night since. The zap sound is weirdly satisfying.

No more spraying the grandkids
What sold me was no chemicals. When the grandkids visit I used to coat them in repellent before they could go play. Now this thing just sits in the flower bed doing its job and nobody smells like bug spray at the dinner table.

Works great — once I moved it into the sun
First spot I picked was under a big maple and it only ran a few hours a night. Moved it to the sunny side of the yard and now it goes all evening. Docking a star because I had to figure that out myself — put the panel in direct sun and you're golden.

Lives on my camper now
Bought it for the yard, but it ended up coming camping with us. Charged on the dash during the drive, hung it off the awning at night. The hook is sturdier than it looks. Campfire evenings without the constant slapping — worth it for that alone.

My neighbor ordered two after one evening here
Had friends over for a crawfish boil and the patio stayed comfortable the whole evening. My neighbor kept asking about the purple lantern by the fence. She ordered the two-pack from her phone before dessert.

Gets the flies and wasps too
Mosquitoes were the reason I bought it, but it's been picking off the flies that hover around the grill and a couple of wasps that had opinions about my deck. One less thing buzzing around my head while I cook.

Prettier than I expected
Honestly I expected an ugly plastic gadget I'd want to hide. It looks like a normal garden lantern, and on light mode it's actually a nice warm path light. Guests don't even realize it's a zapper until it... announces itself.

Read this before you place yours
Two things nobody tells you. One: don't put it right next to where you sit — stake it a couple meters away so it pulls the bugs away from you, not toward you. Two: give it a few full sunny days to hit its stride. I almost judged it on a cloudy first week. Set it up right and it just quietly does its thing every night.

Safe around my dog, which was my worry
Our lab investigates everything in the yard with his nose. The grid is behind the cage so there's nothing he can get to, and no chemicals on the lawn. He sniffed it twice, decided it was boring, and now they coexist on the porch.

67 years old, set it up in two minutes
No app, no account, no instructions you need glasses for. Push the stake in the ground, flip the switch to auto, done. It turns itself on every evening like clockwork. My kind of gadget.
Results depend on placement and sunlight. Position 1–2 m from seating areas with the panel in direct sun.
