Start this week — whether or not they're ready

One of you is ready.
That's enough to start.

A 7-week program for the partner who has been trying alone. It works before they agree — and it does not stop working if they never do.

  • One action a week, not a syllabus.
  • Starts with one person. No permission needed.
  • Two copies — one each, for when they sit down.

60-day guarantee If they never join in and nothing shifts, email us and we refund it. Keep the books.

One session costs ~$150 This is two books, both of you, once — and it needs nobody's agreement but yours.

Why starting alone actually works

The same argument keeps happening because it is a loop, and a loop has two ends. You have only ever been able to hold one of them — yours. That has felt like the problem. It is actually the opening.

When one end stops supplying its half, the loop cannot run in its old shape. Not because you fixed them. Because the pattern needs both halves and it no longer has them. Week one finds your half. The six weeks after that are what you do with it.

This is also why it does not need their buy-in to begin — and why, if they do come around in week five, nothing you have done goes to waste.

What's inside

  • What to say in the first sixty seconds of a disagreement — the part that decides how the next hour goes.
  • The sentence that ends "you always / you never" without conceding the point.
  • Why the fight about the dishes is never about the dishes, and the three questions that find what it is about.
  • What to do when they shut down and walk out of the room — including the thing most people do next, which restarts it.
  • How to ask for something so it lands as a request instead of a complaint.
  • The one thing to stop doing this week. Most people find this harder than anything we add.
  • What to say when they ask what you are doing with that workbook.
  • Week 7: how to invite them in — once you have something to show for it. Including what to hand them, and the two things not to say while they read it.

194 pages · 60+ exercises · 7 weekly chapters · 8 × 10 inches, so there is room to write an actual answer rather than three words up a margin.

On the free option, plainly: a chat window answers the question you thought to ask. This gives you seven weeks in order — including the weeks you would not have known to ask about, in the order that stops you skipping the hard one.

And if you are heading for counselling anyway: do this first. Seven weeks of knowing which loop you are actually in is not seven weeks wasted before a first session — it is the part most couples spend the first month of therapy working out.

One of you starts. Both of you finish.

You do not need their permission to begin — and that is the design, not a workaround. You start tonight, on your own, while you wait for a yes that may never come. By week three you know which loop the two of you are actually in, and you are no longer the only one in the house doing something about it.

Then it stops being yours alone. Two copies arrive for exactly this reason: when they do sit down, nobody is reading over a shoulder. They get their own book, their own pages, their own answers — and week seven is written for that conversation. Some couples get there in week six. Some get there on day four, because a book left on the table is easier to pick up than a therapist is to book.

What it will not do is force it. Nothing will — and the people telling you otherwise are the reason you've stopped believing any of this. We would rather be the ones who said it.

You have been waiting for them to be ready.

You do not have to keep waiting to start.

60 days. Keep everything. The Start-Alone Guarantee.

Questions people actually ask

My partner won't do it. Is this still worth buying?

That is who it was built for. Every other workbook in this category assumes two willing people and quietly fails you on page one. This one starts with the person who is already trying. If they join later, week seven is about exactly that.

Is this therapy?

No. It is a structured programme you work through yourself. If what is happening at home needs a professional, the programme says so and tells you what to look for.

What if they find it?

Week two covers what to say. Short version: it goes better than people expect, and the programme is written so that nothing in it would embarrass you if it were read aloud.

What exactly do I get, and when?

Two workbooks in the post — dispatched within 2 working days, arriving 5–8 days in the US — and the first weekly email the moment you order, so you can start tonight while the books are on their way. Each book is 194 pages, 8 × 10 in, with 60+ exercises across 7 weekly chapters.

$89? That is more than the books on Amazon.

It is, and those books are the wrong comparison — they are written for two willing people, most leave you nowhere to write, and you would be buying one and sharing it. The comparison that matters is one counselling session at about $150, which you would also need their agreement to use. This is a little over half of that, it needs nobody's agreement but yours, and two copies arrive so you are not improvising when they finally sit down. If you only want the one, take it at $49.

What if it doesn't work?

The Start-Alone Guarantee. Use it for sixty days. If your partner never joins in and nothing has shifted for you, email us and we refund the whole thing. Keep the books — we are not going to make you post them back, and we are not going to make you explain yourself.

Real people. Real results.

"I stopped asking him to come to counselling and just started week one on my own. Three weeks in he asked what I was doing. That was the first calm conversation we'd had in months."

"Week four was uncomfortable — it asks you to look at your own half of it, which I wasn't expecting. Worth it, but don't buy this thinking it's about fixing them."
